We took a three hour trip around the islands, landing for an hour on Inner Farne. I had previously been in touch with Andrew who was in charge. He gave helpful information beforehand on the state of the sea and took our initial booking by telephone. The trip itself was wonderful. Andrew ensured that passengers in the boat were as... More

What an amazing experience we had with our Billy Shiels boat trip landing on Inner Farne after cruising around the other islands and seeing all the birds and seals! it was the highlight of our recent first visit to lovely Northumbria. Couldn't fault the organisation or staff and would thoroughly recommend them to everyone.

Seals, nesting birds, puffins, history - beautiful landscapes. One of the best days out in a long time. We were lucky with the weather as well. If you are anywhere in the area you must go.

An absolute must for bird watchers , it's also a great trip for people interested in photography as there are some great views of the northumberland coast line while out in the boat

Booked an island tour with Billy Shiels, with landing on Inner Farne. Managed to injure my knee beforehand, so was worried about getting on/off the boat, but the staff are very reassuring and 2-3 people help everyone on & off. The harbour steps down to the landing are a bit scary & unsafe. No handrail on the water side, and... More

A wonderful place. Great for bird lovers. Great for photographers. The islands were full of birds. It's one of the few places where you can photograph puffins close up and you don't even need a long lens. The value of the trip was excellent. It was late June and many chicks had been born. It was lovely to see the... More

We decided to take a trip to the farne Islands on the boat 'Golden Gate'. We picked this boat as the trip included a half hour stop on the island to see the lighthouse. What a surprise on landing to find a colony of seals on the island which we had to walk past to get to the lighthouse, make... More
