Inside, the Cathedral tells almost 1000 years of history, with our enthusiastic volunteers on hand to talk you through the incredible stories of its past. There is more to see at Norwich Cathedral than you think. Our award-winning 21st century Refectory restaurant is open seven days a week, as is the Hostry which features a rolling programme of exhibitions, many of them featuring local artists. You can also experience the tranquillity of our expansive Library, Herb Garden or Japanese Garden, as well as guided tours of the building throughout the week.Afterwards, feel free to explore the lanes of the Cathedral Close, a quaint village just minutes from the bustling city centre, and stop for a picnic on one of our many well kept greens. Norwich Cathedral is a living centre for worship, learning and hospitality, extending a warm welcome to all our visitors from Norfolk and beyond.Part of the Norwich 12 - An initiative of Norwich Heritage, Economic & Regeneration Trust. « less

This magnificent building with its fantastic history is not to be missed. The Cathedral (and the Castle) ARE Norwich! Shops you can find in any town, but Cathedrals like this - rarely! More

Together with Tombland, off which you exit to visit this church, this location is the centre of Norwich's history. A well proportioned building with interesting history. It has a good restaurant which enables one to have a relaxed visit. More

This is an exceptional area of modern glass, wood and steel encompassing the ancient stonewalls and gateways. The welcome is exceptional too.Guides offer leaflets and explain how to make the most of... More

The grandeur of this prestigious cathedral is most impressive, set amongst little church houses, pleasant gardens and away from the noise and bustle of Norwich. Edith Cavell has a memorial stone here and if you can combine a service with your visit the choir is worth listening to. More

Decided to take a look around during a bleak winter's afternoon in Norwich - after wandering around the grounds and the excellent cloisters we found the entrance to the stunning looking cathedral - found ourselves confronted by a sign sitting atop a reception desk "suggesting" a minimum £5 per person donation - two stony-faced receptionists sitting hawk-like behind said desk...
