We did an 'all day pass' at Honister slate mine, which meant that we had the mine tour in the morning, then lunch and then the via ferrata extreme. To be honest we weren't really that bothered about going on the mine tour, but it turned out to be incredibly interesting and worth doing. The via ferrata was absolutely incredible... More

What a beautiful place to be. Via fretta experience was challanging. Guide Johny was very helpful, made things easyand taught us basics about rock climbing and wasconstantly helping group members. Beautiful view at the top. We went at 6th june 2013.

A great visit for a wet day, this is an interesting venue, giving an insight into the harsh life of the people of Borrowdale who worked the mine for so many years.

A fascinating insight into the history and development of slate mining and production in Cumbria. Roland, the guide was very knowledgeable, humorous and informative. The underground tour lasted about one and a half hours and is well worth going on, provided you don't mind getting a little wet and muddy. The road up is very winding and narrow but the... More

Terrific interesting tour of the last working slate mine, very informative and enthusiastic guide showing one mans vision, who, unfortunately was killed in a helicopter crash before he could complete all his dreams, recommended

Stunning views and romantic lakes, this place is truly wonderful. Yes the VF could be cheaper, but I did feel I got lots for my money. And to the person that lives in the Alps,im glad you live there too. As I find the alps to be the most overrated place on the planet!

We visited Honister Slate Mine on a morning when it was pouring with rain! We booked on the 10.30am tour (not the via ferrata) but arrived slightly before to have a look round the shop. Our female guide was pleasant and knowledgable, able to answer all questions and good with children too. We enjoyed the trip around the mine decked... More

Me and my boyfriend booked this the night before and didn't really know what to expect. The nerves come when you look down and realise just how high you are! The instructor was really useful and was understanding if you was a bit nervous! My legs was shaking in parts but its a great feeling when you do it! Going... More
