Beautiful area, very relaxing and close to the centre. Mind the bicycles as they do wiz along. Would be nice if you could get an ice cream

Visited this May Bank Holiday - beautiful weather, beautiful flowers and blossom. Lovely walk alongside the river. Great to see so many people enjoying this open space. Tatty in places - especially the graffiti under the flyover - a pity.

The gardens are bisected by the river on which there are regular boat trips. There are lots of beautiful trees and flower borders and plenty of space for children to play

What a fine asset to the town. Full of flowers and lovely trees. A spectacular Oriental Plane tree attracts a lot of attention near The Tower House. The river adds even more to the pleasant walks. Well done the council!

The Westgate Gardens in Canterbury are beside the river Stour and wraps around the city centre. The gardens a nicely kept with colourful plants of different varieties with seats and trees to shade people in the sunny summer months. The gardens are also free with bridges across the river and picnic areas. However, the gardens lack quiet due to its... More

Great place to "take a load off" whilst visiting Canterbury. Always well kept and planted with colourful flowers. A welcome oasis and you can walk from there all the way to Chartham 5 miles into the countryside.

They could be lovely, but the people there make them a state. Although YouTube sensations ISawATrout record their videos here sometimes. So if you see them, ask for an autograph!

A lovely place for a picnic when the weather is nice and a nice place for a walk regardless of the weather as long as it is dry. Can get pretty packed in lovely weather.

Always my first choice on a summers day. The gardens are splendid and the people it attracts fill the atmosphere with that sublime summer feeling. Great for children too if you carry on to the end there is a play park.

Far from the maddening crowd, but just a stone throw from the city of Canterbury. Get to Canterbury, Head for the Westgate tower and you will see the gardens alongside the Council Offices. Comprising a couple of acres they are planted with floral displays throughout the year, the river Stour runs through them on which you can take a ride... More
