I'm from Gatineau and I go to the park at less once every week, if I could I would go more often. It's very peaceful, I love walking in the path or biking. The view is just incredible specially at night with all the lights of the city. You're also very close to many different great restaurant.
The Park is just a short drive from the city. The weather was perfect during our visit. An excellent place to view fall foliage. You could easily spend half a day in the park.
It starts just over the bridge from Downtown although you can drive on freeway to Chelsea town first and visit the restaurants here (its Quebec) An easy day trip Canada style -ie little traffic. It is only very busy at peak autumn leaf colour change. Lots to do year round, lakes, many views, great hills and dips and peace. Cyclists... More
Despite very cool temps (5C) and occasional rain showers, today`s bike ride along the Sentier du Parc-de-la-gatineau was incredible. Not surprisingly, given the weather, I had the trail nearly to myself, and was able to ride its entire length with only one stop at a very long hill about 2 km south of Lac Pink. The trail is wide, well-marked,... More
Go early in the morning!!! The crowds are huge after 9am. You won't believe how big this park is and the variety of trails, lookouts and monuments there are to stop at. The leaves changing colours was amazing!
This park gives you the feeling of beeing far out in the woods, yet you are still in town. The park is well structures, with long roads, parking, and many signs to the many sites. Beautiful in the fall, with the changing colors.
Have lived in the Ottawa Gatineau area over 40 years. Every year our family hikes the trails; good parking, well marked trails, maps available on government website. Great from cross-country skiing during the winter months, all level of trails.
Spent a day visiting the Mackensie King home and the Champlain lookout - Gatineau park is superb and definitely worth the trip if you are in Ottawa
If you haven't taken the time to either drive through, bike through, walk through parts of the Gatineau Park, you are truly missing out. Make sure you take the time to see Pink Lake, a natural wonder by itself. You can see it's beautiful deep turquoise color right by the shore. Breathtaking views from above; you'll love it!
