What a surprise this museum contains. Wonderful themed exhibit areas starting with the excellent first nation section. Well structured and informative with first class exhibits. The logging sections is great and leaves one with a deep appreciation of the hard life these early pioneers really experienced. We walked the 8 km Ripple Rock trail in the morning and went to... We made a trip to Campbell River for this museum, based on the reviews. Well worth the drive from Courtenay! The nicely done exhibits try to present the full scope of local history: Europeans, loggers, farmers, fishermen, First Nations. The First Nations' masks exhibit alone are worth a stop. (Because of the inclusiveness and size, it reminds me of the... More

Very interesting and interactive! Beautiful location overlooking water. Nice, bright, and modern. Restored fishing boat on site. They start up the steam donkey on labour day.

Was really impressed by the folks that showed me around. I'm a Marine Professional and I learned a ton during my time there. Very interesting local museum.

Enjoy going in for their sale before Christmas. It is nice to be able to see some of the local artisan work.

I didn't actually go due to disability problems, but the Vital Ground group I was with May 2008 said that it was very interesting and informative. I will try to get there when I go back to Knight Inlet Lodge. I don't know if there is a fee since it was included with our trip package.

I think this is one of the best small city museums I have visited. Very informative native, logging and fishing histories told.

I was quite pleased with the overall layout and display techniques used. All the artifacts were in very good to excellent condition - sometimes not necessarily a good representation of history but in this case it totally works for concise and clear interpretations. It has the usual neo-native focus with colorful masks and totems made mostly post-1890 (In Canada, as... More

We are proud to have such a gem of a museum in our city of 30.000 and have sent many guests over. Well structured, professional displays. You get a chiver when you listen the story teller in the display of native masks. Don't miss the little movie theatre at the end and the documentary on the Ripple Rock explosion!
