A bit harder than described but great hike. It is straight up the creekbed and has Indian pictographs. We had ice still present but could hike on or around it.

We had a lovely morning walking in Grotto Canyon, with our very helpful guides Ryan and Jack from Discover Banff Tours. Walking on solid ice is really something else. Ryan and Jack were very informative guides showing us the First Nation painting amongst other things. You don't really need a guide to do this walk, just make sure you have... More

Walking us the frozen canyon floor in late December, with the sun shining up the valley was just beautiful, the sort of thing they put on postcards! We were on an 'ice walking tour', but the canyon could easily be explored independently by those confident taking themselves out and about on winter activities. We saw a number of ice climbers... Great trail. Beautiful scenery. Did this trail in the winter time and it was breath taking. There is a long stretch where you're hiking on ice so make sure to come prepared with the right footwear and crampons so you're not slipping and sliding. Also be sure to come prepared with layers as temperatures. I made the mistake of wearing... More

I did this trail for the first time in winter and liked it very much. Most of the trail can be done directly in the creek this time of the year. I'll do it again next summer, as some places were inaccessible because it was very slippery. I put my spikes sometimes, it's worth it if you have some. Icy... More

I have hiked this trail three times in the last 3 months and each time I see something different that I missed before. The hike is up a dry stream-bed (in the late spring and early summer, in any event) to increasingly higher canyon walls and a beautiful waterfall. The polished rocks can be slippery, even when dry and I... More

We had a two hour guided mountain climb. It was an easy climb for about 70% of the time. It was a nice view from the top of the mountain. It was definately worth going to. Wear good shoes as there was some streams you had to cross and you could slip in places.

The last reviewer was very helpful and provided some guidance when we went- it was listed as an "easy" hike on our guidebook. This was not accurate. The trails are not well marked nor well maintained. Someone had pulled out a permanent marker and scrawled "stay to the right of the creekbed" on the sign at the entrance and they... More
