We strolled this avenue in detail and found it shabby, dirty and unsafe-feeling. I would not want to be in this district at night, and we visited on a Saturday afternoon. There is absolutely no reason to go here at all, there is nothing to see.
head up this street and you will find the cutest restaurants and bars and the most wonderful little shops. Put this on your Montreal Walking Day for sure.
Its a nice avenue. You can find a lot of things... restaurants (from differents countries) , little specialty stores, clinics, pharmacy... etc etc...
Cool restos, plenty of shops, sadly a bit of rubbish and traffic, but awesome. There is a range of shops from warmly welcoming to hard rock.

There is a definite European charm in this area, with a French feel, and many great cafes and restaurants. We live in the suburbs of Montreal, but visit here often!

Rue St-Denis, between Sherbrooke and St. Catherine, is pretty ho-hum in mid-winter, a street like any other. It really comes into its own in summertime, however, when Montreal is alive with festivals of all kinds and outdoor cafes abound! Above Sherbrooke, the boutiques of St-Denis attract clients all year round, as do some of Montreal's best restaurants. L'Express has been...
