This beautiful property and grounds are well maintained. The history is fascinating and the knowledgeable interpreters make the lives of the family members come to life. .

Me and my wife visited the place recently and it was pretty interesting. Pros: 1. The area is beautiful 2. The place has a good collection of old and antique things. Cons: 1. All the rooms are closed off. So you will have to see them from far. 2. If you have visited original castles in UK and France, this... More

This was the best guided tour I have ever been on - and as a journalist, I have been on MANY tours! Our guide Janett, in traditional clothing of the time was truely excellent. The manor has been lovingly restored and is undergoing further restoration. We even received a taste of dishes of the time in the kitchen...made just for... More

I really like the restoration that has taken place here. My last visit was here 10 years ago. The tour guide was very friendly (Josh). He was very knowledgeable. Even when asked questions. We had a few people in our group, a total of 10 in our group. The Shortbread and Tarts tasted delicious. I felt like I went back... More

My boyfriend had a 3-day conference in Hamilton to attend, and so I occupied myself by walking around Hamilton and visiting some of the unique attractions; and Dundurn Castle was by far the best! The Castle and the grounds are gorgeous, and immaculately kept. There is also a military museum on-site, which visitors are able to visit for free with... More

There is a lot of interesting history behind this stately home. It over looks Hamilton Harbour and on a clear day you can see Toronto's CN Tower. The grounds have other things to offer like a garden and the Military Museum. It has a gift shop with some interesting items. It is a nice spot at Christmas and minutes from... More

If you are in Hamilton , this is one place not to miss . It is a very historical mansion and has been well refurbished . Good guided tours with knowledgeable guides dressed in period clothing . Beautiful estate!. You are lead around Macnab's old estate and shown how these very wealthy people lived. There is even a working kitchen where you get to sample some old time food. Also it includes admission to the war time museum which is pretty cool!

Dundurn Castle was a great first-time experience. The attraction itself is not an actual castle but a mansion of a historical figure in Canadian history, Sir Allen Macnab. His house reflects his wealth and family life, as well as hints of his military background. I thought it was beautiful inside and out. If you're into interior decorating, architecture or history,...
