Beautiful gardens, a nice walk out to the old dyke system. You could visit a number of times just to see the various plants bloom. Missed the lilacs, lots of rhododendrons still in bloom and too early for roses and wisteria.

Beautiful gardens, a nice walk out to the old dyke system. You could visit a number of times just to see the various plants bloom. Missed the lilacs, lots of rhododendrons still in bloom and too early for roses and wisteria.
After a lot of driving during the week before our visit, it was a very relaxing way to spend a couple of hours wandering around, enjoining the beautiful grounds and a different view of the shore beyond. The farmer's market was an added bonus.

Despite a cool, wet spring, much was in bloom. We always get ideas for our own garden by coming and wouldn't miss it for the world.
When we visited, it was a little early for the gardens to be in full bloom, so we didn't get to see the laburnum arbour or rhododendrons. It didn't matter, it's still a beautiful haunt inside a delightfully picturesque town.

It was hard to believe that this was a British Outpost and the well preserved Fort and buildings are a must see. The view from th fort over the harbour show how strategically this protected the area.
Cool off on a hot day by strolling along the beautiful shaded pathways of the gardens. Pillowy plumes of carefully manicured roses all around and large mature trees create a natural feeling of a 'Secret Garden' experience.
This attractiong was a ver nice way to spend an hour or so, the gardens were very beautiful. It was a great spot for taking some pictures. Worth checking out.
Spent a very enjoyable afternoon at the gardens. Very peaceful. The rose garden, with it's gorgeous scented roses, was a highlight.
My husband and I visited the gardens on a chilly, drizzly day. Undeterred, we spent several hours exploring the garden displays.
