Delightful peek into an outport town but it is part of St. John's. A must see to appreciate the "then and now" face of Newfoundland. It has it's own brewery but many places closed as we visited before mid May when things open for the season.

Take a drive and walk around Quidi Vidi Battery. It is a part of old Newfoundland right on the edge of the city. If you climb the hills and trails, especially in August you will find the local wild blueberries, ripe for the picking. There are some great views back into town as well.
We have friends who live in The Battery. The beauty of this place goes beyond what u see on Calenders and post cards. It's a quiet little town and at night you can hear the waves crashing and the rocks sliding down into the never ending ocean. You feel relaxed and calm every time you look out the window. There...

Pretty, charming, but really about an hour worth of stuff, tops. Really 30 minutes. Thankfully, it's crazy...

Nice area, go to the Quidi Vidi Brewery. There is trail not too far around the Quidi Vidi Lake, good way to get a good workout.
What was once a charming fishing village is now a few old buildings and a bunch of new build homes. Okay if you want to visit the brewery, which is probably fun though we didn't have any interest.
During Iceberg season, this is the place to be as you'll see the most amazing icebergs up close. It's a bit tricky to get to the area where the iceberg viewing is best, but you'll see tons of people and it's definitely worth the walk over there. The views (even when there are no icebergs) are pretty amazing and epitomize...

They have some "hundreds years ago" soldiers to show you and tell you different stories about the French and British war affairs. Good to learn those history when you are a Canadian or being a visitor.
fantastic place to go and check out some history and amazing scenery. Good little walk, not too long or difficult.
