Both boats plying the northern routes - the Northern Adventure and the Northern Expedition - are reasonably comfortable, although the Northern Adventure is a giant vibrating tub bought as a last minute emergency deal after BC Ferries managed to crash their last boat into an island. The cruise itself is lovely, up the inside passage and across to Haida Gwaii.... More

Visiting the island for the first time from Vancouver to Victoria, we travelled as foot passengers from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in early May. The crossing was perfect, beautiful scenery. Everything went to time and we got the #70 bus from the ferry into downtown Victoria. Travelling independently was definitely the best value for money.

Ground transportation is not particularly well coordinated between Vancouver, YVR and Victoria. The cruise through the islands is relaxing and beautiful. The prices are high....for two people $123 one way. There is no competition and BC Ferries is the only game in town. Pacific Coach Lines provides a very sleepy service to the Island from Vancouver. However staff were very... More

The ferries are clean and efficient. The route between Swartz Bay and Tsawassen (unsure of spelling) is beautiful

We went over to visit family for a few days May 2 to 4th, 2013, I used the BC Ferries Vacation package, it was so easy so simple, called up, nice customer service representative, we booked into the Poet's Cove Resort, BC Ferries does everything for you, reserve the ferry, your fare is covered, book your room at the resort!... I cannot recall a traveling experience less unpleasant then BC Ferries. I took a trip from Horseshoe Bay the Sunshine Coast this April expecting a relaxing and enjoyable journey...anything but. The Ferry was 45 minutes late (no apology issued), resulting in no bus at the other end; We were constantly bombarded by loud and intrusive announcements (safety ones are of... More

Our ferry stops running (Powell River/Comox) everytime there is a breeze...it's windy a lot here. The food is absolutely disgusting!!!! I can't understand why BC Ferries doesn't get rid of Whitespot and put in a food court...Something like the malls do. We could have Timmys, Sushi, Greek, Subway...anything would be better that what they currently serve...gross!!!!

Government needs to step in to make this more affordable. Wifi needs to improve as well, very spotty.

Overall the BC ferry system is failing it's users. Fares are way too high, resulting in reduced ridership. This has impacted our ability to get off island, and has markedly reduced tourism to our island. Connections in Schwartz Bay for Salt Spring Island are complicated, requiring a mad dash drive out of the ferry grounds, up the highway, over an... More
