With a taxi ride in the $30 range from YVR to downtown, the Skytrain, at $9 for an adult even during rush hour is a real deal. Non-rush hour is less than half that. Take the train!

I don't love public transit. Squashed into dirty dark tubes with people sniffling with colds and flus is not my favorite. However, Vancouver's Skytrain is bright and airy. The only underground part is through the south part of the city, from the airport and about 3 kilometres through downtown. The rest of the system is built on airey bridges and...

I LOVE the SkyTrain from the airport, and wish all airports has a similar method. It's clean, fast and so easy and convenient. And cheap...$9 to get from the airport to downtown Vancouver. And $4 return?! That's crazy talk!!!
Took only 30 minutes from Vancouver Airport to Waterfront station. Then a 4 block walk to the Marriott Pinnacle. Great.
A cheap way to travel around Vancouver- including from the airport. Really easy. Didn't need a taxi once.
I recently flew into Vancouver from New Zealand and my accomodation was in 'Downtown Vancouver.
I had sent an e-mail to my hotel asking for the best way to get from the airport to my hotel, they replied "Once you have cleared the formalities at the airport (passport control - customs etc) you will see a signs for the SkyTrain....

We used the sky train from Fairmont waterfront to the airport. So easy and inexpensive to use. We had a day pass for the transit so used it all day and then for the sky train at end of day to the airport. It was about a 25 min ride. Lots of room for our luggage.
We took the sky train to pick our rental vehicle at the airport. Easy to use and quick and efficient. Affordable and beautiful views.
Finally a North American city that has linked its downtown and airport with fast, clean, pleasant public transit. Trains are smooth, good information about upcoming stations from the displays, and the seats are comfy- can't really ask for more.
A great way to transit: every 5 minutes a train parts from several trainstations in the city. It connects the major parts of Vancouver and even some nice parts outside (Burnaby Lake, for example). A new line is in progress connecting Coquitlam with UBC. This will enhance transit even more!
