We have a subscription to the ESO, and really enjoy their programming. If you are just catching a single performance, try to attend when Bill Eddins is conducting. He really enjoys interacting with the audience and has a very physical style of conducing. A "late night with Bill Eddins" performance is a real treat. It starts late (9:30 pm), and... More

Occasionally I do visit the Edmonton Symphony indoors, but my favorite is the annual symphony held in Hawrelak Park, outdoors. They always showcase local talent, like the time they teamed up with a high school drama club. I enjoy it because the selections are pop and there is an informal atmosphere. Encouraging local talent is also a plus.

Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is world class. They give great performances and often incorporate visual accompaniments or Broadway classics into certain shows to appeal to a wider audience. Bill Eddins is a fantastic Music Director, whose enthusiasm and excitement for music is contagious.

We attend the ESO about twice a year and are never disappointed. The ESO themselves are worth going to hear but when they add special guests it's always a great experience.

After a lapse of many years my wife and I have resumed attending performances of the Edmonton Symphony on a regular basis. Part of the reason we had discontinued attending was the repertoire the former conductor chose and his choice of guest performers which seemed to be picked because of some personal connection rather than on the basis of their... My partner and I see 4-5 symphonies a year and they are always wonderful. The Winspear is an amazing venue for an amazing orchestra. Bill Eddins really adds a lot of fun to the proceedings and it's really great to watch him conduct a very talented group of musicians. The programs are varied and interesting and there is something for... More

If the tickets are priced right we love to catch the symphony a few times each year. Always amazing to see these shows.

I go only for the classical music concerts, so this review does not apply to pop concerts or the "Lighter Classics" series. The orchestra is consistently Inconsistent. They can be very good one evening, and less than ho-hum the next. They have actually been able to make me cringe through some of the classical music I love, enjoy and know... More
