We stayed on Playa Norte at Ixchel. It was nice. Service was not fantastic, but we thought it was difficult to find really decent service anywhere on the Island.
Let me start by saying that I prefer beaches with less crowds than more, but this beach is worth the crowds.
This easily walked stretch of beach is the best stretch of beach on Isla Mujeres. The sand is white, soft, and for the most part very clean and natural. The water is shallow enough to wade out about 50...

a VERY pretty beach! the water is amazing! Shallow water but you dont have to go out too far and it gets deeper. It was windy the day we went but the waves were still very small. you can rent beach chairs with an umbrella for a very reasonable price. A great place to swim or relax and just enjoy...

Mexican Caribbean what a nice paradise very good for families and small children. A little crowded but nothing bad.
This is one of the best beaches I have ever been to!! Gorgeous clear blue water, white sand that goes out forever, hardly any seaweed, beautiful little white fish swimming here and there, spectacular sunsets...could not ask for more!
Playa Norte is a beautiful beach on beautiful water but the plethora of aggressive vendors makes it a stressful experience. Those that like a lot of hustle and bustle may find it appealing but don't go there for a quiet day at the beach.

The colors. The sun. The tacos....pure heaven. Lots of funky little beach restaurants, massage tents and water sport shops.
Quiet, beautiful sand, amenities nearby if you needed food or drink. We stayed at Na Balam, a thatch-roofed, quaint hotel on the beach.
