Castara is a small village on the north side of the island, where the rainforest meets the sea. It is the best place to base yourself if you want to spend time on this stunning coastline as it has accommodation, a few restaurants, and other facilities to help you on your way. There are two beaches, a small one called... More

Castara - what can I say - loved the "being away from it all" feeling in castara, and the friends we've made. Love the beach, the people, Sharon, Rachel, Porridge & Jeanelle, Chino etc etc - a very "get away from it all feel"

Castara is just the sort of place you imagine when you think about the Caribbean. Soft sand, shady palms, backed by simple little cafes and bars. And a distinct lack of crowds ! But Castara is also a working fishing village and you can watch the fisherman hauling in the nets, and if you are self-catering, as we were, you... More

We have recently returned from two fabulous weeks self catering in Little Bay. Only two minor reservations, the first being the local dogs which although domesticated and, I think owned, have taken to holding barking matches any time they feel like it during the night, usually led by one that appears to live at the top of the hill near... Beach is nice and clean, fairly shallow...lots of places to buy food and drink. You can watch the fishermen bringing in their catch of the day as well.

Having heard a lot about this beach we were very disappointed. There was no where to park and the beach like so many others shelved steeply and was not good for young children. A pretty village though and would be ok for adults.

This definitely is the best beach we visited on Tobago. We were lucky enough to see the local fishermen pulling in the huge net full of fish. The place is really tranquil and there is a small supermarket just off the beach to buy some cold Carib or Stag. Bring binoculars to look at the birds.
