An excellent display of local history by topics - discovery, education, medicine, culture, etc. Well worth a visit.
We toured downtown Ponce and learned all about the history of the many historical buildings and parks.
I never thought that such a small place had so many interesting information! Miguel was very attentive from the beginning and Ronald give us an excellent tour on the rest of the other museums, we were very impressed with his rich knowledge about history! The memorial of Barrio Mameyes was so impressive and sentimental. The house have a lot of... More
I'm not sure I can add much more detail to the "excellent" reviews already posted.....but I so thoroughly enjoyed my time at this excellent museum that I felt compelled to reiterate its praises. The staff could not have been more welcoming...nor more helpful in answering the several questions I had. I found it a most fascinating and insightful overview of... More
We visited this museum and the narrator was wonderful, he was able to explain the history of Ponce and point major points of interest within this former home. Almost all of the items and displays are in Spanish so unless you are able to translate, you will want to ask one of the guides to take you through the museum.... More
I thought they had some nice displays in here, although some of them were a bit worn and dated. The museum covers the history of Ponce as well as the political history of the island through the eyes of Ponce. We had to rush through because we were running out of time on our meter. Should have allowed more time.... More
This small museum gives a good overview of the history of this important southern town. Although there is little information available in English, you can get a good amount of information from just viewing the artifacts and many historic photographs on display. The structures the museum is located in are attractions in themselves. Be sure to visit the section of... More
Hot weather but most areas has AC. People are gentle but at nite there are occ. junkies asking for some money. The touristic areas are well patrolled by state and city police. If you want to exercise your self all tourist area are walking distance if you are fit and carries enough water.
We really enjoyed spending an hour in this free museum, which does a very good job of telling the story of Ponce, our favorite destination in Puerto Rico. Displays have many legends in both Spanish and English. The museum is housed in an old mansion that is interesting in its own right.
