We did an Apple Vacation tour called "Santo Domingo" and I was pretty impressed with the amount of history in the museum. It was about an 1 1/2 hour drive from La Romana. We had headphones that described each room and its contents from a guided tour.

See how the original European inhabitants of the city lived. Admired the furniture and art. Enjoy the incredible views of the river. Take a photo of your kids in Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand cut-outs. don't miss it

Enjoyed touring this unique place. We have a 10 year old and 2 year old and there was enough to keep their attention. We did the audio tour in English which was very helpful. There weren't a lot of people there but if it is busy it wouldn't be as enjoyable. I liked the study the best. Another must see... More

The architecture and the furnishings of this historic site were quite exquisit. The tour is given via a digital recorder that you simply punch in the number of the sign on the wall and hear about the room you are in. There is much to learn from this tour. I was amazed at the condition of all the furnishings. The... More

this is a great place to visit, full of history. Remember, Santo Domingo is the first established european city in America (by the way, America is a continent). This place is safe, with nearby restaurants, and you can sit and relax without any trouble, even at night.

Very good to see the real furniture used by Colombus family. The installation is really nice but they need a museographer who take care of everything soon!

The displays and explanations brought forth a wonderful feeling of what life was like for the wealthy and military at that time. The entrance price includes a head set with information in various languages. My husband and I found the museum to be one of the best in the city.

I did not go inside. As most things in Santo Domingo, there are no sign leading to it. You have to FIND is on your own. It is on open field and you may approach as you want.
