The Alpine Visitor Center is on top of Trail Ridge Road and is an obvious stop when you reach the top. Air is thin and even native Coloradans can feel the altitude. If you are from lower elevations, be careful about physical exertion. There is a medical station on the park ranger side of the center and they can help... More

This is the part of Trail Ridge Road that separates the east side of the park from the long downhill trip to the west. We were just here briefly, as it was snowing and hailing -- in late July!!! Be prepared for any kind of weather when you visit. We had to wait awhile to get a parking spot, but... More

This is a very nice little visitor center with some really great views and places for pictures. There is also a store with souveniers and a little cafe with some food items. The bathrooms were clean even with the large amount of visitors on the day we went.

There are so many scenic outlooks in the Rocky Mountain National Park that it would seem impossible to pick out the best spot. However, the Alpine Visitors Center clearly (pun intended) is the best. It is only 11,796 feet in altitude and has a restaurant and gift shop. Being located at the halfway point to Grand Lake it is a... More

What a nice visitors center!! Large selection of quality souvenirs, maps, hand crafts and photos. Also has a nice little restaurant where you can eat overlooking the beautiful view. Be prepared for a great temperature drop and some lots of gusty winds.

This was a great place for lunch after a senic ride up the one way dirt road. The air is a little thin but nothing like Pikes Peak. The food was good and not too overpriced. Nice selection of the typical souvenirs. Flush toliets not just out houses . Great view of the alpine seenery. Watched a heard of elk... More

Out of Estes, take Fall River Road past the Alluvial Fan and head up the Fall River Road, a one-way route in the mountainside and less than twenty miles up you'll arrive at the Alpine Visitors Center. For sure you'll need a jacket when you reach this mountain top experience. A camera too for capturing the Rocky vistas and herds... More

We were pleasantly surprised at this location, with the wonderful views, to the great gift shops in both buildings. We didn't eat here but it's a nice option to have while at the top. You can view educational items in the visitor center as well. It broke up our halfway point of our trip rather well. We stayed under an... More

This is, at least psychologically, the halfway point on Trail Ridge Road, and separates the more mountainous scenery on the east side of the park from the somewhat more forest-ish views on the long downhill trip to the west. The visitor centers at the two eastern entrances to the park provide the more classical visitor center experience, and the main... More

Some of America's best vistas can be seen from within and outside this facility. Weather conditions were extraordinarily good during my brief visit here, but if conditions quickly change, as they can, it is a great place to have access to. Lots of interactive things to do here and educational opportunities also.
