For those who have time, visiting those temple is a nice moment, under the trees in the jungle. The visit takes 1 and a half hour, it's not huge but it's a quiet place and we had good times hanging there and talk with the locals.

This temple, though smaller and far less elaborate than some, was fascinating to see and definitely not overrun with tourists! The local guide at the site did a nice job of explaining the importance of the ruins and then pointing out relevant features as he walked us through the area. I'm glad that we made this stop and got to... More

Prei Kuk may be small compared to the Angkor temples of Siem Reap but if you have the time, spend a night in Kampong Thom and pay them a visit. The 7thC ruins are situated in the middle of the countryside and because of its lack of visitors you have a chance to enjoy the tranquility of the place. There... More

These temples were surrounded by dry forests when we stopped off en route on a tour from Phnom Penh to Siam Reap. Our guide said she only went there infrequently so it is not a tourist magnet. A good introduction to the temples at Angkor, but earlier and on a different scale. There are 3 main temples to see -... More

The temples are about an hour outside Kompong Thom by tuk tuk, but definitely worth a visit. We had a local guide called T who showed us round and described the temples. His self taught English was amazing. We didn't see anyone else apart from some locals whilst we were there, nice change from Angkor.

Not many travelers knew or interested about this place hence not many visitors there (it is only us when we reached there and met 2 couples on the way back). The temple are ruins as there are built way earlier before Angkor Wat but remains untouched. Only certain area now received restoration but still in progress. It took 1 hour... More

We visited Sambor Prei Kuk before heading to Siem Reap. The site is starting to get maintenance, and friendly guides await at the entrance of the site to show you around. I would definitely advice you to work with a local guide (US$6 for an hour and a half). The temples are mostly destroyed, except for 6 buildings that still... More

The temples are spread out in a jungle area and have far fewer tourists than one will find around Siem Reap. Our guide was knowledgeable and was a good communicator.Beware of the monkeys; they like to grab something (sunglasses or camera) if given the opportunity.
