I recently had the pleasure of taking a ride on this old railway, It was a very nice experience lovely and quaint, it felt as if you had gone back in time, outside the actual station there was a pile of old brown suit cases which made it even more authentical !! we got off the train at North Weald... Was an ok afternoon out with the family and great I would imagine if you are a train enthusiast. Very dedicated volunteers looking after, and restoring the engines. For a family I thought it was expensive but worth it even if its just a one off.

Not much to add to what's already been written other than to say that we spent a great afternoon on the bus & trains despite not being enthusiasts. The effort that has been put in to getting the machinery and station buildings to their present state is clear to see and we were amazed at the number of staff (presumably... More

We had a very pleasant time. The staff were very friendly and helpful but a little over priced. They had an Easter egg hunt which my 7 year old son greatly enjoyed.

My friend wanted to visit the Dolls House Shop in Ongar for her new granddaughter. So I suggested we went to Epping on the Central Line and then the EOR to Ongar on the next Saturday. Its a long trek from Central London to Epping (sitting sideways) and we arrived there at about 13.00 But there we hit a problem... More

Sunday 30th December came to see loco 4141 and enjoy a mince pie. This is my seventh trip since opening and have yet to be disappointed. The new loco is a delight ,ideal for this branch. [nice to see the GER N7 69621 possibly on loan one day]. All the staff were still in festive mood although they always seem... More

This trip works on so many levels. Kids meet a steam engine and at 15 mins each way its manageable for their concentration although the ones I saw loved the engines. As an adult steam trains brought back memories ( I lived outside the uk) ancient br rolling stock was a nostalgia fest and the staff were lovely and enthusiastic.... More

We took out grandchildren on the Epping, Ongar steam railway for a trip to the north pole to visit Santa and his helpers. It was a really great few hours, we border a rally old double decker bus at Epping station which took us to Ongar, where we boarded the Santa Express. This classic steam train took us to the... More

Nicely done and good entertainment for the kids for an hour or two. Main issues for me are - nowhere to park - it's all a little bit slow paced Trains were great and the carriages reminded me of when I started work 25 years go.

Having left the car at home, I went on a scenic tube ride to the end of the Central Line at Epping on a sunny autumn Sunday. As the railway to Ongar doesn't quite reach Epping yet, you then get on a beautifully restored green double decker bus dating from the 1950s which takes you to North Weald Station. The... More
