I love the beach. This has easy access, free parking and a great walk. It also has public restrooms that are ok, just bring your own sanitizer as I did. This is the off season and can end up being a cool walk if you go in February, but well worth it. more

Thoughtfully, the commercial area (shops, restaurants) is separated from the shore by homes, so no "boardwalk-tourist-trap" atmosphere like in most town beach areas. A trip to Carmel is not complete for us unless we visit the Rio Grill. We love their soy-mustard skirt steak and yams! The food is always excellent quality and the service is good. It's a little pricey, but my husband and I consider it a treat to ourselves. more
